For 175 years, Notre-Dame de Paris withstood weather, war, and vacationers alike, until April 15, 2020, when a blaze nearly destroyed one of the world’s most famous cathedrals and an enduring symbol of the City of Light. Since then, a renowned French association of artisans and craftspeople, the Compagnons du Devoir et du Tour de France, whose organization was founded in the Middle Ages, has played a leading role in Notre Dame’s restoration.
