Summer is definitely here and at the Center we wanted to share with you our favorite summer songs. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we do!

Barbara Bouquegneau

Vacances, j'oublie tout, released in 1982 by Élégance.
Whenever I hear that classic French summer tune, I am transported back to my teenage years when we were counting the days to the jour du grand départ for sunnier places, the sand and the ocean - usually, the south of France or Spain. There is the trepidation of planning, taking on the road with the radio traffic information system, Bison Futé, and then the bliss of enjoying all the little pleasures of a vacation abroad. I defy anyone to not feel more relaxed after listening to this song (en boucle is better!). Even if you don't really travel anywhere, you can definitely live vicariously through this one-hit wonder tube de l'été! I find myself playing it often while stuck on Storrow Drive and trying to leave Boston around 6 pm on a week day 🙂

Bruna Franco

J’ai cherché, released in 2016 by Amir
In 2016, I went to France as an Au Pair to spend a year in Annecy. I was lucky enough to arrive in August, at the height of the summer and one of the most played songs on the radio was “J’ai cherché”, from the French-Israeli singer Amir. The song talks about hope, and isn’t summertime the best moment to be hopeful? Since then it has become my summertime song, having the power to transport me back to that time whenever I miss France.

Sonia Jacobson

Résiste, released in 1981 by France Gall
Something about summer vibes really brings out the feeling of empowerment in me. As a kid, it was a season for traveling, exploration and freedom from school rules and high expectations. I think the kinder weather really helps to make us more adventurous. It’s a time to try new things, and I find myself listening to France Gall’s famous “Résiste” on repeat to give me courage! Enjoy!

Clémence Bary-Boloré

J'Veux Du Soleil, released in 1012 by Au P'Tit Bonheur
Everything is in the title! I love this gipsy jazzy groove and the lyrics. I definitely believe that a part of us is still the little boy/girl that we have been and what a better moment than summer to remember our kids' dreams and make them happen.

Fabrizio Mazzetta

Les jolies choses, released in 2021 by Polo & Pan
All summertime elements at play here in this sugar coated simple song with a nostalgic twist in the background.

Do you have a favorite summer French Song? Don’t hesitate to share it with us. We are wishing you un très bel été!
