Né dans les années 1840, le roman policier français a flirté tôt avec le portrait social, s'inspirant de contemporains tels que Balzac. Emile Gaboriau a écrit le premier du genre.

Vous connaissez certainement le maître du polar pour le 20ème siècle, Georges Simenon. Son fils sera présent cet automne au Centre! Gardez l'œil sur notre programmation...

Pour ceux d'entre vous qui souhaitent découvrir la grande diversité de ce genre, découvrez les sélections ci-dessous! Selon Quai du Polar, le festival de référence pour les amateurs de romans policiers, "un livre sur cinq publié en France est un roman policier". C'est un genre extrêmement populaire qui permet aussi d'apprendre des choses sur la société contemporaine.
