Whether your feet are in the sand or kicked up in the comfort of A/C, is there a more perfect pairing than summer and a good book? We might be a little biased, but your librarians can’t think of anything better! Since our library has its annual closure in August, we invite you to stock up with twice as many materials than you can normally borrow (meaning your summer numbers are 14 for individuals; 34 for families; 44 for institutions) with an extended renewal time. Items, including DVDs and games, checked out now will be due in September, when the library reopens its doors.

Looking for more ways to enjoy your borrowing privileges? We invite you to place holds all summer long! These materials will be checked out to you by our librarians, can be picked up at Reception, and will be due September 10th, a week after we reopen post-Labor Day. More information about placing holds can be found in our blog post from last summer, as well as some great recommendations for summer reads and games!

Too hot outside to trek to the Center? Or maybe you’re traveling during these summer months? We’ve got a plan for that! Click here to access hundreds of materials from wherever you find yourself. This curated list of over 30 e-libraries will have something for everyone, no matter your level of French.

We’ve also loaded our blog up with fun resources across platforms like podcasts, YouTube, and more! Be sure to check back here for engaging ways to interact with French and the Francophone world.

Lastly, don’t forget to fill out your Bibliothèque Bingo cards! Passez un bel été !

Ingrid Marquardt

Librarian

Ingrid began her passion for French through the immersion program in Milton, MA, and has followed it around France and the world. She took a break from this first love to pursue a B.A. in English with a minor in Irish Studies at Boston College and a Masters of Library and Information Sciences at Simmons College. She is thrilled to meld her excitement for libraries and French language and culture in her position at the Center!
