Alors que nous sommes entrés dans la dernière phase de la Coupe du monde, voici une liste de mots ou expressions indispensables pour regarder un match de l’Équipe de France.

  • Aller au charbon : quand un joueur ou une équipe produit effort physique intense notamment pour des actions défensives
  • Avoir une caravane dans le dos : quand un joueur court trop lentement
  • Avoir les mains en mousse : quand un gardien n’a pas la main assez ferme
  • Variante : être une passoire : quand un gardien laisse passer un tir facile
  • Avoir les pieds carrés : désigne un attaquant maladroit
  • Ça cafouille dans la surface : quand un ballon traîne dans la surface (penalty area) et qu’aucun joueur n’arrive à le maîtriser
  • Casser le rythme : stratégie consistant à ralentir le jeu ou interrompre une action
  • Chauffer le banc ou cirer le banc : Rester parmi les remplaçants pendant toute la durée de la rencontre.
  • Coup du chapeau (hat trick): lorsqu’un joueur marque trois buts dans un match
  • Un croqueur : un joueur qui dribble beaucoup trop
  • Être un renard des surfaces : désigne un attaquant opportuniste
  • Football : la façon correcte de désigner le soccer
  • Football champagne : désigne un style de jeu spectaculaire, offensif, créatif et plaisant à regarder
  • Faire la passe à dix : quand une équipe conserve longtemps le ballon
  • Footix : Terme péjoratif désignant un supporter opportuniste, souvent occasionnel ou qui change d'équipe selon les modes ou les victoires
  • Garer le bus : lorsqu’une équipe joue très défensif et se regroupe devant son but.
  • Variante : Mettre les barbelés ; Fermer la boutique
  • Il joue en costume : pour qualifier un joueur au sommet de son art
  • Une minasse/bastosse : une frappe très puissante
  • Une passe D : raccourci pour passe décisive
  • "Passe là ta balle” : quand un joueur garde le ballon trop longtemps
  • Une passe téléphonée : se dit d'une passe ou d'un geste prévisible
  • Prendre une biscotte : terme familier désignant le carton jaune que l'arbitre sort pour avertir un joueur fautif
  • Prendre une valise/tolle : une lourde défaite
  • Surface de réparation : penalty area
  • Vendanger : Rater une occasion de but immanquable ou facile.
  • Variante : Si elle est dedans, c’est pareil ; Bouffer la feuille de match
  • “Y’a faute” (valable avec le hors jeu, une touche, un carton et bien d’autres) : ici la contraction est indispensable
