The French Library is proud to announce that Ingrid Marquardt has been promoted to the role of Center Librarian. Marquardt, previously the Center’s Library Assistant, has been a committed and valuable member of the team.
“Ingrid brings a lot of energy to our Médiathèque and her new role. When recruiting for this position Ingrid stood out from other candidates, of course because of her experience here at the Center, but also for her enthusiasm and her deep knowledge of library science,” said Executive Director Barbara Bouquegneau.
Marquardt, who embraces innovation, has already introduced the Library to modern book trends including themed book bundles for kids and "Blind Date with a Book" for adults. She has also refreshed the Center’s blog by including library-adjacent topics, such as posting about having fun with French YouTube and popular French podcasts.
“I love engaging with our patrons and learning what our stakeholders want to see. Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than discussing books, DVDs, and games with our visitors. The Library’s community is so vibrant and unique; I could not be happier to continue to expand upon my role here at the Center,” Marquardt commented.
Marquardt first learned French through the immersion program in the Milton, Massachusetts public school system. It has since become a passion that has followed her to France and around the world. She holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Irish Studies from Boston College and is currently completing a Masters of Library and Information Sciences at Simmons College.

Originally from New Jersey, Jamie graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in International Business and a minor in French. She also completed a semester abroad in Marseille, France. Jamie fell in love with the French language as a child when her sister brought home a high school French book, and looks forward to continuing her education at the French Library.
