Behind the grand boulevards, elegant monuments, and famous cafés lies another Paris: a city of unsolved mysteries, hidden stories, secret passages, forgotten crimes, and legendary figures. In this immersive B1+/B2 course, participants will explore some of the most intriguing enigmas of the French capital while strengthening their French language skills through discussion, investigation, and cultural discovery.
Each week, learners will dive into a different Parisian mystery, from historical disappearances and famous criminal cases to urban legends, underground tunnels, secret societies, and unexplained events that continue to fascinate historians and Parisians alike. Through authentic articles, videos, podcasts, maps, photographs, and literary excerpts, participants will uncover clues, analyze evidence, and share their theories.
The course emphasizes oral communication and critical thinking, encouraging learners to engage in lively discussions, express hypotheses, debate possible explanations, and compare fact with fiction. Along the way, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Parisian history, culture, and society while expanding their vocabulary related to mystery, history, crime, and urban exploration.
