Part-time Language Instructor - Summer 2025

Director of Education, Youth Programs Manager

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic French-speaking instructors to lead classes in our full immersion French summer program for kids (3-12 years old) and teens (13+ years old). The ideal candidate can create supportive, fun, and engaging environment for children and teens to develop their French language skills and broaden their cultural horizons. Instructors will facilitate themed weekly activities that promote language learning through structured lessons that include games, arts and crafts, music, cooking and light physical activity. RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

  • Teach and manage a classroom of students, including collaborating with and overseeing a classroom assistant (based on class ages and size).
  • Plan and implement daily activities aligned with the Summer in French program’s weekly themes and curriculum, ensuring full immersion in French.
  • Submit detailed lesson plans to the Youth Programs Manager in advance for review and approval.
  • Monitor and support the progress of students, adapting activities to meet varying language levels.
  • Attend all trainings and meetings organized by the Education Department.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during program.
  • Communicate efficiently with Summer in French staff and parents in a timely manner.

AVAILABILITY

  • Monday - Friday weekly commitment from June 23 to August 30; 8:45am - 4:30pm - whole summer preferred but candidates available for several weeks will also be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Unrestricted work authorization in the U.S. in hands required
  • Native or advanced proficiency in French (C1 level desired)
  • Experience teaching or working with children & teens, preferably in a language immersion, educational, or camp setting
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically
  • Familiarity with approaches of teaching French as a foreign language
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) and comfort using technology that supports learning
  • Must understand and practice full immersion in the classroom
  • Strong class management skills
  • Ideal candidates have valid pediatric 1st Aid & CPR certification
