Rose Levy Beranbaum is an internationally renowned baking expert, cookbook author, and food writer whose meticulous approach to the science and craft of baking has influenced generations of home bakers and professionals. She is the author of fourteen books, including the landmark The Cake Bible, The Bread Bible, The Pie and Pastry Bible, The Baking Bible, and The Cookie Bible.
First published in 1988, The Cake Bible became a groundbreaking reference for bakers, bringing precision, standardized measurements, and an in-depth understanding of baking science into home kitchens. The book was named IACP Cookbook of the Year and was inducted into both the IACP Culinary Classics Hall of Fame and the James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame. Rose is a three-time James Beard Foundation Award winner and received the IACP Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.
Beyond her books, Rose has written for major food publications, hosted the PBS series Baking Magic with Rose, developed baking equipment and tools, and built an international community of bakers through her website, Real Baking with Rose. Her new memoir, Ma Vie en Rose, traces her journey from a food-averse childhood in postwar New York to becoming one of the most influential voices in American baking, weaving together personal stories, culinary history, and the people and moments that shaped her career.Upcoming Events
