Theater Club in November

Come join us for the Theater Club at the French Library, a place to read, watch, discuss and recite contemporary and classic French plays with fellow enthusiasts! At the Theater Club, we'll discuss a different play each month and read excerpts aloud to each other. 

This club strives to foster discussion and dialogue around a love of contemporary theater and a chosen play: attendees are wholeheartedly encouraged to come and practice speaking in French. No acting skill required, and no public performances are planned!

Our November meeting features the 2025 play Made in France by Samuel Valensi and Paul-Eloi Forget.

"Après tout ce temps passé à l’attendre derrière les barreaux, ça y est, Emile a obtenu sa peine aménagée. Dès demain, il passera ses journées à l’usine et ses nuits en centre de détention, de quoi rêver d’une sortie rapide pour bonne conduite. Problème : l’usine où il s’apprête à travailler délocalise. Émile n’a plus le choix : pour se sauver, il faut qu’il devienne le meilleur des syndicalistes, sauve l’usine, ses collègues et, peut-être, au passage, le pays tout entier. Made in France est un spectacle qui raconte le combat d’hommes et de femmes prêts à tout pour sauver l’industrie française... enfin... à tout, sauf à faire quelque chose."

Club participants are asked to read the play beforehand and bring their copy to the meeting for discussion and recitation. The text can be purchased on Les Libraires, Abe Books, or Amazon. Please order your copy of the play in advance of our meeting.
