When you make a gift of appreciated securities you help the French Library and could receive a double tax benefit – a charitable deduction and avoidance of capital gains tax.*
  • You may be able to take a tax deduction for the full, fair-market value for stock or other securities that have increased in value (if you have owned them for at least 12 months).
  • You pay no capital gains tax on any appreciated asset you contribute.
  • You have the satisfaction of supporting the French Library in a way that benefits you as well – and you may even be able to increase the amount of your gift because of its decreased cost to you.
