About Benjamin Jones

benjamin
As a fourth-generation member of the Clément family of Martinique, Benjamin Mélin-Jones was raised as a classic purist of Rhum Agricole. He was raised to appreciate his French and Martinican roots, with its unique culinary heritage, ceremonial Ti’ Punch rituals, and the island’s beautiful culture.

Ben grew up with a vision to introduce Rhum Clément to the States. This vision, combined with the ardent ambition to elevate the appreciation of fine rum and a fantastic collection of products with which to do it, grew rapidly, as Ben re-established SPIRIBAM. SPIRIBAM represents, markets, and distributes fine Caribbean rums from Martinique and Saint Lucia. Today, SPIRIBAM is responsible for bringing Rhum Clement, Rhum J.M, Admiral Rodney Rum, Chairman’s Reserve Rum, and Bounty Rum to the shores of the United States. The company is to its trade partners the ultimate cabinet of rum, and is one of the primary forces behind today’s rapidly developing ultra-premium rum category U.S.

Ben has ardently committed his career to the soaring fine spirit and craft cocktail movement, and is a recognized leader of the contemporary renaissance for genuine premium rum, led by his ambassadorship for Rhum Agricole. His passion for this kind of authenticity, combined with his lifelong dedication to his French Caribbean roots has helped him become one of the world’s leading experts on rum and a widely quoted resource on the rise of premium rum in today’s beverage trends.
