Theater Club in September

Come join us for the Theater Club at the French Library, a place to read, watch, discuss and recite contemporary and classic French plays with fellow enthusiasts! At the Theater Club, we'll discuss a different play each month and read excerpts aloud to each other. 

This club strives to foster discussion and dialogue around a love of contemporary theater and a chosen play: attendees are wholeheartedly encouraged to come and practice speaking in French. No acting skill required, and no public performances are planned!

Our September meeting features the 2021 play La Ligne Rose by Odile Blanchet, Bérénice Boccara, and Sana Puis.

"Paris. Les Années folles. Trois opératrices de téléphone. Marthe se voit déjà vieille fille. Denise joue les oiseaux de nuit. Jeanne démarre une nouvelle vie. La rencontre des trois demoiselles fait des étincelles lorsqu’elles se mettent à créer un service inédit : donner du plaisir aux hommes, par le simple son de leurs voix. Leur entreprise florissante se retrouve au cœur de toutes les convoitises : un gangster opportuniste, des collègues trop curieuses, une police des mœurs sur le qui-vive... Les pièges seront multiples, mais à cœur vaillant rien d’impossible !"

Club participants are asked to read the play beforehand and bring their copy to the meeting for discussion and recitation.
