Discover the intersections of wine, medicine, microbiology, and science history with watercolorist Diane Fiedler, a featured artist in our current exhibition Art on Science:  26 études. You will be inspired by a brief history of Louis Pasteur, the great French biologist who invented pasteurization and is considered the father of microbiology. You will be surprised to learn that Pasteur’s works include the bacteriology of wine and inoculations for French poultry—which are our delightful muses for an evening of expressive watercolor painting. 

Using photos of the strange and beautiful heritage breeds of French roosters, learn classic color-mixing theories and distinctive brushwork to develop your own vivid watercolor Chanticleer. View images of cutting-edge contemporary arts utilizing genomes and living bacteria, then decide if you will choose to add the elegant graphics of relevant bacterial genomes for an even more sophisticated finish to your “Sci-Art” painting.
