About the Performers

Jean-Pierre Armanet is a French composer and filmmaker who received part of his musical training at the American School of Modern Music in Paris. Many of Jean-Pierre’s compositions are inspired by the US and influenced by American music. His musical style fuses academic classical techniques with the influences and improvisation of jazz. Jean-Pierre has written suites and standalone compositions for solo piano, chamber ensemble, orchestra and voice. The orchestral version of The ‘T’ had its world premiere on December 6, 2019 by the Orchestre Hexagone. February 7th is the first public performance of the definitive, published version of The ‘T’ for solo piano, and constitutes the US premiere.

paulius
Paulius Pancekauskas is a pianist from Lithuania who earned his Masters of Music from Longy School of Music of Bard College, where he is now pursuing an Artist Diploma. He made his debut with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra in 2009, and has won or placed in more than ten international competitions in Europe and the US. After moving to the US in 2016, Paulius was granted the Presidential Scholarship and Neil and Jane Pappalardo Scholarship at Longy. Currently, Paulius is an active performer in Massachusetts pursuing his solo performance and teaching career.

Milos Bjelica is a Boston-based clarinetist and educator, passionate about drawing audiences deeper into the art of music. Dedicated to making classical, jazz, world and Serbian music available to wider audiences, he has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player across Europe and the United States. Milos holds a Masters degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, as well as a BA from the University of Belgrade, and is currently pursuing his Artist Diploma from Longy. He is the recipient of numerous awards at national and international competitions including Concerto and Honors competition at Longy School of Music (2017) and the Harold Wright Merit Award in Boston (2016).

Laura Mchugh is a soprano and a native of Boston who obtained her Master of Music and her Artist Diploma in Opera Performance from Longy School of Music, where she won both the Concerto Competition (2019), and the Honors Competition (2018 & 2019). Lauded for her “superb, floating” voice, she has appeared with Odyssey Opera, Promenade Opera Project, Boston Opera Collaborative, Lowell House Opera, Longy Opera, Commonwealth Lyric Theatre, and Vox Futura professional recording ensemble. Laura is also a dedicated recitalist and vocal chamber musician, and in 2018 appeared in a staged production of Schubert’s Die Winterreise, hailed by Boston’s WBUR. She was recently named 1st Place winner in the 2018 National Classical Singer Competition by an esteemed panel of judges including Deborah Voight, 1st Place winner of the 2019 Vermont Vocal competition, and 2nd Place winner of the 2019 VOX New England Classical Idol Competition.
