Join us for the next installment of our French Lens on Art series, exploring the MFA’s reimagined galleries of modern art.

Led in French by Isabelle Slotine, this guided tour explores the birth of major artistic movements, most of them happening in Paris, during the first half of the twentieth century, as presented in the Museum’s newly installed 20th-century galleries.

From Fauvism to abstraction, to the rise of Surrealism in Paris, this tour traces the powerful cross-cultural exchanges that transformed art in the 20th century. Featuring works by artists such as Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, René Magritte, and Remedios Varo, along with other artists featured in the galleries ,you will explore how bold experiments in color, form, and imagination shaped modern art across borders.

After the tour, guests are invited to continue the conversation over a drink at the museum café. Isabelle looks forward to answering your questions.

Please be ready at the meeting point at 2:15 p.m. so the tour can begin at 2:30 p.m. sharp.

Former culture journalist in Paris, Isabelle Slotine graduated from Sciences-Po and has master's degrees in French Law and French History. She is a class 2022 Associate guide at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
