Join us for the second screening of Stéphane Brizé’s work, presented by filmmaker Mariel Iezzoni.

Hors-Saison (Out of Season) is a delicate, introspective drama about two former lovers brought together by chance after fifteen years apart. Mathieu, a well-known actor struggling with burnout, checks into a seaside spa retreat and unexpectedly reunites with Alice, a piano teacher living nearby.

Set against the quiet melancholy of an off-season coastal town, the film unfolds as a meditation on aging, missed opportunities, and the question of whether we can truly revisit the past. With nuanced performances by Guillaume Canet (Tell No One, Farewell) and Alba Rohrwacher (La Chimera, Happy as Lazzaro), and a gentle, evocative score by celebrated singer-songwriter Vincent Delerm, Hors-Saison offers a tender and atmospheric exploration of lost love and second chances.

The evening will conclude with a wine reception, offering a chance for discussion and reflection among fellow cinephiles.

About Stéphane Brizé

Stéphane Brizé is an acclaimed French filmmaker known for his deeply humanistic and socially conscious cinema. With a career spanning both fiction and documentary, Brizé’s works often explore the struggles and resilience of ordinary people facing extraordinary challenges. His films, including Hors Saison and Mademoiselle Chambon, have garnered critical acclaim for their subtle character studies and exploration of human relationships.

About Mariel Iezzoni

Mariel Iezzoni is an independent filmmaker practicing both fiction and documentary film. Her latest short, Burial, premiered at the Richmond Film Festival and was a Special Jury Nominee. She received her MFA in Film from the City College of New York where she graduated a BAFTA Scholar and winner of the Chantal Akerman Student Prize.

She is currently writing and producing her first full-length feature film, Red Hill Town, about a family who are the last remaining citizens of an abandoned coal mining town in northeast Pennsylvania. She began her love of French cinema as an undergraduate student in Paris.
