From the Escadrille Lafayette to the American Red Cross

Join us for a passionate talk led by experts Christopher Capozzola, Virginie Greene and Jean-Claude Redonnet. Through discussing the cases of Norman Prince, founder of the Escadrille Lafayette, Victor Chapman, one of the pilots of the Escadrille, and of Thomas Rodman Plummer, volunteer in the American Red Cross, who all three died in France, the speakers will address various aspects of the American engagement in WWI, during the neutrality and after. The talk will conclude with a larger reflection on the way this engagement changed American humanitarianism, and marked it to this day.
