At French Library
Steven Galante is chairman of the Board of Trustees of the French Library in Boston and author of The French Library in Boston: Landmark of Franco-American Friendship, the first comprehensive history of the institution. A former journalist and publisher, he researched overlooked archives to trace the Library’s founding in 1945 and its place in Boston’s long tradition of French influence.
As Board chair, he also oversaw the Library’s award-winning 2024 renovation, which modernized its historic buildings while preserving their architectural character. From spring through autumn, Steven leads historical tours of Boston in French, often organizing special walks for the Library that reflect his passion for French culture and the city’s history.
