About Guila Clara Kessous

Ambassador for Strasbourg World Book Capital by UNESCO and Patron of the
Festival Des Livres, Des Artistes 2024, Guila Clara Kessous is a peace activist, executive coach, and a distinguished expert in art therapy. After earning her PhD at Boston University, she taught a course on "Theatre and Human Rights" at Harvard, dedicating her career to leveraging the arts for healing and human connection. Her work has touched the lives of vulnerable populations around the globe, using the therapeutic power of literature and theater to alleviate suffering.
Kessous’s passion for literature has led her to record over 40 audiobooks, many focusing on women's rights. Her ongoing project, the "International Accords for Women in Diplomacy," has brought her into conversations with global figures such as His Holiness the Pope and the Dalai Lama  giving them each an audiobook, to speak up for a more equal world. Today, she is working together with "Love for Livres" organization on bibliotherapy and emotional intelligence through the power of books.

A worthy successor to Elie Wiesel, the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize laureate who supervised her thesis, Kessous continues to push boundaries in the pursuit of peace and human dignity.
