An unexpected romance blooms after the youngest daughter (Seydoux) of a merchant who has fallen on hard times offers herself to the mysterious Beast (Cassel) to whom her father has become indebted. This version of the classic tale from director Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the wolves) offers an opulent, lavish visual experience that adheres more closely to the original, darker fairytale. Gans' interpretation also includes a unique backstory for the Beast. The film has received critical praise for its visual style and won the César Award for Best Production Design in 2014.

The screening will conclude with an open discussion led by our in-house film expert, Barbara Bouquegneau.
