Join us for an amazing evening with acclaimed Senegalese author Boubacar Boris Diop. Mr. Diop will be discussing his work and to kick off our class on Francophone poets, he will also talk about the great Martinican poet, essayist, and playwright, Aimé Césaire. This event will be moderated by Dr. Bojana Coulibaly.

Come ready with your questions as our talk will be followed by a Q&A session.

About Boubacar Boris Diop

Boubacar Boris Diop (born in 1946 in Dakar) is a Senegalese novelist, journalist and screenwriter. He taught literature and philosophy in several Senegalese high schools. He became technical advisor at the Cultural Ministry of Senegal. His best known work, Murambi, le livre des ossements (Murambi: The Book of Bones), is the fictional account of a notorious massacre during the Rwandan genocide of 1994. He is also the founder of Sol, an independent newspaper in Senegal, and the author of many books, political works, plays and screenplays. Doomi Golo (2006) is one of the only novels ever written in Wolof; it deals with the life of a Senegalese Wolof family. The book was published by Papyrus Afrique, Dakar.

About Bojana Coulibaly

Bojana grew up in France where she completed her secondary and higher education. She holds a Ph.D. in Languages and Intercultural Studies. She has experience teaching both French and English as a Foreign Language and French and English as a Mother Language in France, the United States and Senegal. She is also a researcher in languages and contemporary literature and cultures.
