About this Class

From royal prisoners to lost treasures and literary enigmas, France is full of fascinating mysteries. In this conversation-based course, students investigate real cases, examine historical evidence, discuss competing theories, and decide for themselves what really happened. Through documentaries, articles, maps, and primary sources, participants will develop their speaking and critical-thinking skills while discovering some of the most intriguing mysteries in French history.  

Fall program:

Week 1 - Le Masque de fer

Week 2 - La bête du Gévaudan

Week 3 - Le trésor des Templiers

Week 4 - Saint-Exupéry : disparition en vol

Week 5 - Le vol de la Joconde


Objectives:

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Ask and answer questions naturally.

Describe people, places, and events.

Form hypotheses and express certainty or doubt.

Narrate events in the past.

Work collaboratively in French.

Improve fluency through meaningful communication.
