About this Class
From behind-the-scenes access to world-famous landmarks visited by millions to the hidden gems of the capital, explore Paris through its most iconic monuments and its most surprising architecture. This course offers a linguistic and cultural approach to the city, highlighting the historical, political, and symbolic role of its architectural heritage.
From landmark sites to more discreet and lesser-known works, students will discover how Paris’s urban landscape tells the story of France and contributes to the construction of its identity. Using texts, documentaries, and visual materials, they will develop their language skills while deepening their cultural understanding.
Class objectives:
- Analyze cultural and historical texts about Parisian monuments
- Develop argumentative speaking skills
- Enrich vocabulary related to urban space and architecture
- Understand the relationship between history, politics and culture
- Write short analytical texts in French
