About the artist

Cécile Ganne is a French-born painter based in Boston, whose work explores the intersection of landscape, memory, and perception. Raised in the Dordogne Valley in Southwest France, her artistic language is deeply shaped by the mineral landscapes, silences, and sensory richness of the region.

Ganne trained in France and the United States, holding degrees from La Sorbonne and a Ph.D. in French literature from Boston University. Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches French language and literature at Wellesley College.

Working from her studio in Boston’s SoWa Art District, she creates layered oil and cold-wax paintings that move between abstraction and evocation. Her compositions are not depictions of place, but distilled impressions where light, texture, and time converge.

Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private and institutional collections. She is represented by galleries in the United States and the United Kingdom.
