About this Class
How the French Talk... and Think (B1/B2) is a language course designed for learners who want to improve their French while exploring key ideas, values, and cultural habits that shape French thought. Using adapted excerpts from Sudhir Hazareesingh’s How the French Think, along with authentic texts (articles, interviews, short essays), students will strengthen their vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension skills. The course will combine cultural discovery with practical language practice: reading, listening, discussion, and writing activities will help participants both deepen their understanding of French culture and advance their ability to communicate confidently in French.
Objectifs du cours:
- Expand vocabulary related to culture, society, and abstract ideas (reason, equality, identity, citizenship)..
- Improve comprehension of medium-length authentic texts and recordings with abstract or argumentative content.
- Practice expressing opinions with logical connectors (parce que, donc, pourtant, en revanche, même si).
- Engage in debates or role-plays on themes such as equality, rationalism, or individual freedom.Interact in group discussions using strategies for clarification, agreement, and disagreement.
