About this Class

Join us for a unique French course (B2 level) inspired by the bestselling novel Les Yeux de Mona by Thomas Schlesser — a moving journey through 52 masterpieces of art from the Louvre, Orsay and Beaubourg museums seen through the eyes of a young girl and her grandfather.
Each session blends language learning with art appreciation, focusing on oral and written expression, vocabulary, and grammar in context.
Through the beauty and emotion of the artworks discussed in the book, students will:
- Analyze paintings using rich, expressive French
- Practice speaking and writing with depth and nuance
- Study the language, tone, and style of Schlesser’s writing
- Explore themes of time, memory, and the power of art

This course is perfectly timed with Thomas Schlesser’s visit to Cambridge on October 21, where he will speak at the Harvard Book Store—a rare chance to connect classroom learning with a live literary event!

N.B.: Reading Les Yeux de Mona in full is recommended but not required before the course.
