About this Exhibition

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Lafayette's last voyage to the United States and the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, the Consulate General of France in Boston organized the French & American Friendship Contest 2024 in partnership with the Richard Lounsbery Foundation. Through the creation of a work of art, high school students learning French in New England reflected on the very essence of Franco-American relations. The prizewinning students and their teachers left for Normandy, France in early June 2024 to attend the official celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
To close this chapter properly, an exhibit was created in order to highlight the different works of art of the students that participated. This exhibit will tour across New England, and we are honored to be opening its journey here at the French Library! This event showcases the powerful medium that is art for dialogue between cultures, reflection on politics and diplomacy, and horizon-expanding debates at school.
