About Maya Hachem
Maya Hachem is the founder and CEO of Zaatar Road, the first online marketplace connecting the artisans of the Levant region in the Eastern Mediterranean to the North American market. Maya believes that Zaatar Road sustains the storied artisanal heritage of the Levantine people, while enriching the tables and homes of discerning consumers in America. Backed by experienced investors, Maya built her teams and operations in both Boston, New York, and Beirut to source unique products and serve the large North American market with excellence. Maya started her life’s journey in the mountains of Lebanon bordering the Mediterranean, later emigrating to Boston in pursuit of higher education. After receiving her degree in Business at Northeastern University, she launched into her successful 20-year career in hospitality driven by her entrepreneurial spirit. Maya started by establishing and managing the UAE branch office for a leading UK hospitality company, demonstrating her organizational and communication skills. In that role, she made possible some of the Gulf region’s most celebrated events including the wedding of Princess Haya, where Maya played a pivotal organizational role. She earned the distinguished Award for Achievement from His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the superior planning of the royal wedding. After Dubai, Maya returned to Boston where she spent several years advancing her expertise in hospitality and the culinary industry. She rose to key roles at Le Cordon Bleu, one of the most celebrated schools of culinary arts in America. Later, Maya launched her first café/bistro in the heart of Boston. She grew the Café and then successfully sold it to investors before embarking on her Zaatar Road journey in 2020. Maya served as a goodwill ambassador for the United Arab Emirates lifting the plight of homeless children in the Middle East. At her new venture, Zaatar Road, she is committed to the wellbeing of her artisan suppliers and will dedicate a portion of her profits to helping them advance their craft and improve their lives. Maya is fluent in English, French, and Arabic and divides her time between Boston and Beirut. About Joëlle Tomb
Joëlle Tomb is a real estate and art advisor based in Newton, MA where she lives with her husband and three children. She was born in Lebanon and raised in Saudi Arabia and Canada, where she completed her Master in Education. Born into a family of artists, art runs in her blood. Her late grandfather Maroun Tomb from Palestinian descent was a prolific painter and her father Fouad Tomb is a modern Lebanese painter who dedicated his life to art education. After moving to Boston, Joëlle quickly became involved in the contemporary art scene. She was a docent at the Institute of Contemporary Art for three years and facilitated various public art projects including the Webster Court Project and the “I am We are Mural” in the Fenway. She is currently the Board President of the New Art Centre and is on the Advisory board of ARCK and the Nearby Gallery. She also presides the Fouad & May Foundation for the Arts, her family’s international art platform dedicated to preserve the family artistic heritage and to promoting art for humanity. Curated Show:
