To celebrate the month of love, the French Library is welcoming Samuel Corvair for his first book: La promesse américaine, a moving love story which takes place over three decades.

A French Boston-based diplomat and musician, Samuel Corvair wrote a dark and captivating book. Fascinated by American culture, the main character, Dag left France to join Joyce, the Californian woman he fell madly in love with. The beginning of this new life reveals itself to be a lot less quiet than Dag was expecting...

Our author talk will be followed by a Q&A session, with a book signing and a glass of wine!

Books will be available to purchase onsite, all the revenue will go to Ukraine via La Fondation de France.

About Samuel Corvair

Samuel Corvair is a writer, musician and diplomat.
Fan of the Clash, Pink Floyd, the Who and Alain Bashung, this lover of words hates taking himself too seriously, which is why he loves to write fiction. His style combines the finesse of words and the power of feelings, lightness and depth, somewhere between fiction and reality.
Originally from the southwest of France, Samuel lives alternately in Paris, in the French suburbs, and abroad. He works in an office, eats organic food, rides a bike, runs on weekends, and writes songs.

He is the author of:

About La promesse américaine

The American Promise is a novel based on the author's discovery of California during his student years. It is also a journey of initiation during which Samuel Corvair revisits his past to find places and people that have marked him forever. His writing is inspired by American literature, particularly the novels of David Goodis, Francis Scott Fitzgerald and Bernard Malamud. With a compassionate eye, he offers his fantasized vision of the United States of yesterday and today, through a very particular story that unfolds over some thirty years.
