Vin chaud (hot mulled wine) might be the most-thought-of alcoholic drink this time of year but what if you wanted to do something different? Look no further than fun, refreshing soupe de champagne! This festive punch is a great alternative apéritif for your next holiday party.

Recette de soupe de champagne (Champagne Soup Recipe)

Serving Size: 4 people

- 1 bottle of champagne (if you use sparkling wine, we won't tell!)
- 1/2 cup of lime or lemon juice
- 1/2 cup of triple sec or cointreau
- 1/2 cup of liquid cane sugar (or simple syrup)

Be sure to chill your champagne or sparkling wine in advance.  For best results, also chill the salad or punch bowl for serving for about an hour. After chilling, mix ingredients above in the salad or punch bowl and serve immediately.  For added fun try different fruit syrups or liqueurs with the champagne and simple syrup, such as peach, raspberry, melon, or orange!
