June is here again, which means National LGBT History Month is in full swing! Maybe you saw the parade downtown, or maybe you were on one of the floats just a few blocks away from us. However you celebrated, it’s not over yet! The library has added many LGBT books for kids since last year's post and is always on the lookout for new titles for our collection. In a diverse, changing world, it’s never too early to teach kids to love each other and themselves. These stories of family and self-acceptance will resonate with readers of all ages. Gay dads, gay moms, first crushes, boy bears in dresses and princesses in love - you can find them all here!

Jean a deux mamans by Ophélie Texier
Yes, Jean has two moms. Is it that different? Yes. Is it bad to be different? Not at all! Celebrate the differences that make us each unique with this adorable board book.
Les papas de Violette by Émilie Chazerand
Violette is the only girl at school with two dads. Some of the other kids don’t understand, but for Violette, it’s very simple: she loves her dads, and they love her. The colorful illustrations add charm to this touching story.
Dis...mamanS by Muriel Douru
One day at school, Théo and his classmates draw their family tree. Surprise - he has not one, but two moms! Can a family have two moms? Or two dads? Mais bien sûr !
Princesse Kevin Princesse Kevin by Michaël Escoffier
Kevin wants to be a princess for Carnaval. Not a superhero, not a cowboy, not a knight - Kevin is a princess, and that's that! After all, why do girls get to have all the fun? With his sister's dress and Mom's makeup, Kevin is the belle of the ball!
Marre du rose by Nathalie Hense
Do all girls like pink, princesses, and playing dolls? No, no, and no, says the feisty tomboy narrator of this book! She’s had enough of pink and wants to be treated like a normal kid. A funny, affirming story to help kids break free of gender stereotypes.
Boucle d’ours by Stéphane Servant
Le Grand Carnaval de Forêt is this evening, and the Bear family has the perfect costumes. Papa Bear will be the Big Bad Wolf, Mama Bear is Sleeping Beauty - and Baby Bear is Goldilocks! Kids will love this entertaining twist on a classic tale that proves that playing dress-up is fun for everyone.
La princesse qui n’aimait pas les princes by Alice Brière-Haquet
Princes from kingdoms near and far have come to woo the beautiful Princess. But she isn’t interested in any of them! Desperate to find a match for his daughter, the King calls a fairy for help. Can she help the princess fall in love?
Jérôme par coeur by Thomas Scotto
Raphaël and Jérôme always hold hands. They share snacks and play race cars together. Raphaël loves Jérôme - it’s simple. But will others understand them? This simple story evokes the magic of first friendship and first love.
Philomène m’aime by Jean-Christophe Mazurie
All the neighborhood boys love Philomène! But who does Philomène like? Prosper? One of les frères Lasserre ? Or...someone else?
Deux garçons et un secret Deux garçons et un secret by Andrée Poulin
Émile and Mathis are the best of friends. They share everything - games, snacks, and secrets. One morning, Émile finds something in the sandbox that gives him an idea - the best idea of his whole life. But some people think his idea is strange. Some people don't like it at all. What will Émile and Mathis do? A sweet and sincere story about love, friendship, and acceptance.
