Note: While excerpts will be played in class, selected films should be watched by students prior to each meeting.
Even though the experience of 'going to the movies' was recently affected by the pandemic, film directors and actors have continued to feed their creative minds. Using the backdrop of recent history, the arts, social events and societal issues they portray the full human experience of living in present day France.

This is certainly true when it comes to Contemporary French Cinéma.

Open to advanced Intermediate French Speakers (level B1+/ B2), this class will be directed toward becoming a Film Critic, analyzing actors’ performances, debating the inner message of each selected film. You will look at today's Septième Art / Seventh Art made in France through the eyes of three distinctive Film Directors.

In this course, you will:
CO/PO: Comprendre des séquences de films et vidéo. Les analyser à l'oral, donner son opinion. CE/PE: Lire textes et articles. Rédiger des articles avec contraintes grammaticales et rhétoriques. Sociolinguistique: vocabulaire cinématographique, société française d'aujourd’hui.
