About this Class

What makes foreign press fascinating is that it never reports current events the same way as domestic press! With a scope that includes not only the French perspective but also insights from the entire francophone world, the « 7 jours sur la planète » stories offer a wide diversity of narratives and points of view. Besides fostering a deeper cultural and global awareness, this course also aims to promote critical thinking through the analysis and discussion of often complex current affairs, as well as by questioning the angle and underlying motivations of the featured stories.
Last but not least, each session will provide you with the opportunity to enhance your proficiency in every aspect (listening comprehension, reading, conversation), with an emphasis on the specific language of the news and trending expressions that reflect new technologies and emerging societal concepts.

What to expect:
Weekly News Analysis: Each week, students analyze and discuss current world news headlines from French-speaking media sources. This includes reading articles, watching news videos, and listening to podcasts.
Debate and Discussion: Structured debates and open discussions on the news topics encourage students to articulate their opinions and engage in critical thinking. Role-Playing: Simulating interviews, press conferences, and news reporting to practice speaking and listening skills in a dynamic context. Writing Assignments: Students write summaries, opinion pieces, and reports based on the news stories, enhancing their writing proficiency. Multimedia Integration: Using a variety of media formats to cater to different learning styles and keep the lessons engaging.
