About this Class

Our core language classes will strengthen your French through speaking, writing and comprehension activities while providing insights into Francophone culture. Our teachers and curriculum use cutting-edge methods and resources to expand your skills and increase your confidence in French. With full immersion from day one and a communicative, task-based approach you'll gain a deeper understanding of the French language and Francophone world!

Content you will cover: Unité 3: « Travailler autrement »

Learn How To
talk about a burn-out; talk about a professional experience, your previously held role and responsibilities; articulate your vision of the working world, your opinion; talk about what makes you happy in work, your motivation.

Grammar
using simple relative pronouns (who, that, whose, where); expressing an opinion without us of the subjunctive; expressing a goal.

Society, Culture, and Vocabulary
learn about Belgian youth in the workplace; the nomadic digital work culture in Switzerland; feminization of words; and more. Vocabulary: the professional world; the job market.

Pronunciation
understanding when to pronounce the final consonant: ‘Ils dorment chez les Delorme’, ‘Ils connaissent la maîtresse’




Content you will cover: Unit 4: “Date limite de consommation”

Learn How To
present a subject, express a point of view (certainty, evidence), compare consumer patterns; describe a place

Grammar
expressing an opinion with the indicative mood and the subjunctive mood; using comparatives and superlatives; improving adjective placement.

Society, Culture, and Vocabulary
reflect on the consumers that we are, discover new modes of consumption. Vocabulary: fashion, consumer behavior, clothing, accessories, places of consumption, collaborative economy.

Content you will cover: Unité 5: “Le français dans le monde”

Learn How To
talk about the diversity of Francophone cultures; talk about the advantages and disadvantages of a single language; learn to encourage and express confidence; talk in chronological terms.

Grammar
form and use of the past-perfect tense; the pronouns en/y and the double pronominalization; indicators of time expressing anteriority, simultaneity, and posteriority.

Society, Culture, and Vocabulary
reflect on the evolution of the French language; explore Francophone regions and countries; reflect on the “survival” of Francophone communities in regions where French is not an official language. Vocabulary: social and intercultural relations (customs, attitudes, protest, appreciations), diversity and living abroad.
