The French Language Instructor will be joining the French Library at a very exciting time as we have recently renovated our prestigious Back Bay brownstone building and rebranded. The main role of part-time language instructors is to teach on-site teens/children's classes on Saturdays. Please note that candidate must be local or able to commute to workESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - in person (including but not limited to)
- Teaching of group classes in the teens' and children’s section
- Teaching of private lessons
- Administer placement tests
- Attend all trainings / meetings organized by the Education Department
- Create, organize and teach language and thematic workshops/classes
AVAILABILITY
- Initial contract for Spring session: Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:30pm
- Fall, Winter, Spring: Monday - Thursday (day, evening), Friday - Saturday (day) for adult and children's classes
- Summer: Monday - Friday (day) for children's summer program, Monday - Thursday (day, evening), and Friday (day) for adults' section
QUALIFICATIONS
- Native or advanced proficiency in French (C1 level desired)
- Unrestricted work authorization in the U.S. in hands required
- Degree in French, FLE (or DAEFLE) or equivalent preferred
- Must understand and practice full immersion
- Experience teaching children and teens a plus
- Strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills/ ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically
- Ability to develop a rapport with children, parents, students and co-workers
- Strong in person class management skills
- Experience with technology and applied distance learning pedagogy
- Willing to teach children as of age 1, teens and adults
COMPENSATION
Part time : teaching salary base $28/hour (possibility of moving up to $30/hour, $32/hour and $35/hour - additional pay for prep time & meetings)DEADLINE TO APPLY
