The Youth Programs at the French Library/Alliance Française of Boston and Cambridge is now accepting applications for the 2026-2028 cohort of Accent on Success Program, open to BPS high school students, preferably 10th graders (9th and 11th graders will also be considered). This program offers a unique opportunity for students to join our learning community and take French classes at the French Library free of charge. A commitment is required from November 2026 to June 2028, and upon successful completion of the program, students will be rewarded with a fully covered trip to either France or Quebec.

Application overview: Parents/Guardians submit an online application. As part of the application, students are required to fill out a form explaining why they are excited to study French and how Accent on Success will help them achieve their language, career and life goals.   For more information about Accent on Success, please contact youthprograms@frenchlibrary.org   Program at a Glance Accent on Success is fully funded by the French Library and will provide students with: 
  • A French language immersion trip to France after two academic years in the program (conditional upon successful completion of program) 
  • Family Membership to the French Library while enrolled in program (borrowing privileges, access to events, etc.) 
  • Learning opportunities throughout the program (workshops, field trips)  
  • Learning support from our teachers  
New this year! 
  • In addition to our traditional two-year academic program, we are introducing a dedicated 6 to 7-month track designed specifically for seniors, AP French students, and Seal of Biliteracy candidates. This accelerated program offers targeted academic support, advanced language development, and exam preparation to help students achieve their goals. Participants will also have access to select workshops and enrichment activities. Please note that this program does not include a travel component. All application deadlines, participation requirements, and commitment expectations outlined below remain applicable. 
Who is eligible? 
  • Students who are motivated to learn French or further their studies in the language 
  • Students in good academic standing  
  • Students willing and able to travel to the French Library once a week for an hour and a half class.  Exact day/time will be determined. E.g. Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:00pm and commit to participating throughout the duration of the program (no classes/activities will take place during periods when the French Library is closed; e.g. Christmas, holidays).

  • Online application deadline: October 30, 2026 
  • Accepted students announced early to mid November 2026 
  • Welcome Reception: Mid to late November (to be confirmed)  
  • Program starts: around mid November 
Class Curricula  Class curricula will be based on a task-based communicative approach in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Textbooks and class materials will be provided free of charge and classes will be held in full immersion.
